During the Art Deco era, yellow gold was considered d\u00e9mod\u00e9. White gold and platinum were most typical of this period. In fact, white gold was first introduced around 1915. It was used as a substitute for platinum, which was very highly priced but highly desirable due to its light color. Antique white gold is more grey in its natural state, unlike today's gold which is necessarily rhodium plated.
