“Pafti”, also called ” chaprazi”, is an ancient, exquisite ornament worn by Bulgarian women for centuries. Inspired by the belt toques, part of the traditional Bulgarian costume, the jewelry carries powerful symbolism and protection for its owner. Traditionally, they were the hallmark of married women, as opposed to maidens who wore mostly beads. It is believed that the “pafti” are a symbol of fertility and were given to the bride-to-be at her engagement or wedding to protect her child-bearing organs and support her while she was pregnant. They are also believed to ward off all evil forces.<\/p>\n
The designer jewellery from the collection Ethno are made of 14 karat yellow or white gold, natural stones and Italian gold chain. Each piece is finished by hand with precision to perfection. The “pafta” depicts a dove with an olive branch, a symbol of selfless love, hope, peace and spiritual ascension. The outstretched wings complete the image with freedom of spirit and a gaze from above. Floral motifs envelop the scene with lightness and feminine energy.<\/p>\n
